This is a leader skill, and should definitely be something that you put points into for your personal character. However, a higher trade skill can find you deals that make for an effective income. If your trade skill is low then the profit margins tend to be small. If you find a good deal in the marketplace, you will find out two locations where a good is cheaper in one area, and more expensive in another hence, by buying and selling that good between the two locations respectively, you can make a profit. How this works is similar to the “buy for less, sell for more” trading concept. The higher the skill, the more likely you are to find a good deal in the city.
Trade is a party skill feature that allows your party to assess local prices in markets when you visit castle towns. However, since trade is a “party” skill, it’s better off to put skill points into trade for companion followers rather than your own personal character.
